Markus Walcher has been appointed as vice president of sales EMEA at Barracuda Networks.

Walcher (pictured) will be responsible for consolidating established markets within EMEA, with a focus on expanding the business into new markets with both IT security and storage products.

Walcher first joined Barracuda Networks through the acquisition of Phion AG in 2009, having graduated with a Computer Science degree and previously working for T-Systems, Systrex, and Phion AG since 2003.

He was most recently the regional sales director for Austria, Switzerland as well as Eastern and Southern Europe. Through this new appointment he will be heading up the 54-strong sales team across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Says Wieland Alge, VP and general manager EMEA at Barracuda Networks: “Markus’ experience in sales is second to none. He brings a deep understanding of sales and knows exactly what it takes to be successful in the European region. Moving forward Markus will create further opportunities within the EMEA region, while concentrating on long-standing relationships.”
