Rackspace partners with AWS to streamline cloud migration
The move will allow Rackspace customers to migrate their workloads to AWS
Rackspace has revealed details of a new channel relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that will provide new capabilities and expertise for those customers wishing to migrate their workloads to the cloud platform.
Rackspace customers looking to make the move will now have access to AWS-specific technical resources, which can be used to create a roadmap for the migration of data and applications, as well as a dedicated Rackspace support service that will best match the portfolio of AWS services to a company's workloads.
The partnership will also allow Rackspace engineers to access AWS Professional Services from a workspace inside its own headquarters, meaning customer service should be more efficient and provide opportunities for ongoing support throughout the migration process.
"We have worked closely with Rackspace over the last several years and have been very impressed by their dedication to invest in the capabilities required to become one of the next-generation leaders in the AWS Managed Service Provider Partner Program," said Terry Wise, global vice president of channels and alliances at Amazon Web Services.
"Rackspace is a solid example of an AWS Partner Network (APN) partner we'd recommend to customers who are moving to AWS and we are thrilled to align more closely with them to create value for our customers."
Rackspace also announced a new software capabilities in the Rackspace Control Panel, which automates parts of the AWS migration process and suggests optimal locations and cost comparisons for the data being migrated.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work even more closely with AWS to enable companies to take full advantage of AWS services," said Prashanth Chandrasekar, vice president of Rackspace Fanatical Support for AWS business.
