Ingram Micro and Tier1 Asset (T1A) have joined forces, allowing the distributor to sell refurbished computers via its broad range of resellers, aiming to significantly reduce their carbon footprint, while offering the performance expected from enterprise IT kit.

“We are excited to be partnering with T1A to help address our customers' requirement for affordable, high quality devices," Mike Farrah, senior director of sales and vendor management at Ingram Micro, said. "This is a complimentary addition to our portfolio of vendors and products which allows us to address demand from both our reseller partners and end-users."

All of the refurbished computers sold by Ingram Micro are extensively tested by T1A, using a 20-step process to ensure machines are functioning as if they were brand new, straight from the manufacturer.

T1A also offers a certified data erasure service on customers' sites (powered by Blancco) and on its own premises.

Resellers will be able to take advantage of a 24-month warranty as standard on all devices sold through the partnership, a 30-day trial period and significant price reductions compared to buying the equipment brand new.

“By entering this category, Ingram Micro are sending a clear signal to the industry that they will take an active part in distributing upcycled products," Lars Røhmann, sales director for T1A, said.

"Our goal is to reduce the environmental impact on a global level and give our partners and end-users the opportunity to choose an environmentally friendly solution by buying refurbished top quality IT products."

He explained the partnership with ingram Micro is helping T1A further reduce enterprise IT's carbon footprint, while also expanding its own operation around the UK and Ireland.
