Storage industry veteran Steve Mackey has left US tape vendor Spectra Logic to take up a new role at UK data archiving vendor, Arkivum.
Mackey (pictured), who lead Spectra Logic’s EMEA organisation, is now heading up Arkivum’s channel sales and partner organisation.
Founded in 2011, Chippenham-based Arkivum describes itself as “an exciting early stage company providing cloud services for long-term data retention and access”, providing customers with ‘Archive-as-a-Service’.
It claims its links with University of Southampton IT Innovation Centre means it has direct access to state-of-the-art research in digital preservation.
“Steve’s wealth of experience across sales, product marketing and business management will be invaluable in defining and delivering Arkivum’s strategy for developing and building our partner community,” comments Jim Cook, CEO of Arkivum.
“Steve will lead activities to build a comprehensive partner programme that will enable independent software vendors, consultants, integrators and service providers to deliver Arkivum solutions to universities and other higher education institutions as well to biomedical organisations.”
Mackey has also held a number of business, product marketing and sales management positions during his tenures with IBM, DEC, Grau, ADIC and Quantum.
