Mangan steps down at Siemens
Smith ensures smooth transition as channel veteran heads to Salesforce.com
After 11 years helping to grow the Siemens Enterprise Communications channel in the UK, Leon Mangan, head of indirect sales is set to depart to take up a senior role at Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM).
“It was just a fantastic opportunity for me...something new and different and I am not getting any younger,” quipped Mangan (pictured) who believes his successor Tony Smith “is the perfect in-house replacement... with a great relationship with the resellers.”
Smith has worked for the telephony firm for more than five years following stints at Rocom and Toshiba. Prior to the new role he was responsible for managing Siemens’ distribution partners in the UK and Ireland, as well as its top 20 partners.
Smith will be responsible for the management of Siemens’ two tier indirect channel business which includes defining and implementing the Go Forward! channel programme and progressing demand generation within the UK. Outlining his plans, Smith feels that the SMB still “offers a good opportunity for growth” while the firm’s launch of its LX range with enhanced support for virtualisation puts it in a good position to address the midmarket.
Although products and channel programmes have remained static over the last few months, Smith confirmed that the firm has a “cloud-based voice UC solution that we will be launching in the coming months.”
