Bitdefender has made two new hires that it hopes will bolster its channel efforts.

In EMEA, the cybersecurity firm has recruited Andrew Philpott as VP of enterprise sales, who has previously led EMEA sales teams for the likes of McAfee, Forcepoint and Secure Computing.

In his new position, Philpott will be responsible for the company's growth market strategy for enterprise markets in EMEA, as well as growing its presence in core markets and expanding relationships with partners in the region.

The organisation will also be building up its EMEA sales organisation to help support this effort.

Vincent Schiavo, SVP of worldwide enterprise sales and marketing at Bitdefender, said: "We are delighted to welcome Andrew as a key member of our global sales team during this period of intense growth at Bitdefender. Andrew will play a key role in expanding our efforts in Europe, bringing more than 20 years of technology and cybersecurity sales leadership and experience."

Philpott, who will be based in the UK, added: "Bitdefender is uniquely equipped to protect sensitive data no matter where it resides and address the most pressing cybersecurity issues facing the modern enterprise. I look forward to helping our customers solve their hybrid infrastructure, datacentre, service provider and endpoint security challenges."

In addition to Philpott, Bitdefender has also appointed a new VP of worldwide channel development, Joe Sykora.

Sykora, who will be based in Santa Clara, joins the company from Fortinet and has a total of 21 years' experience in the security industry. The organisation said his appointment is part of its ongoing efforts to grow and advance its channel programme.

"The investment that Bitdefender is making in the channel and to our partners is second to none," said Sykora. "I look forward to continuing Bitdefender's award-winning work and to leading the next stage of progress for our channel programme."
