McAfee Enterprise’s SSE business rebrands to Skyhigh Security
The new organisation will provide a “comprehensive and converged” approach to data security, Symphony Technology Group says
Symphony Technology Group (STG) has rebranded McAfee Enterprise’s Security Service Edge (SSE) business as Skyhigh Security.
The move follows the private equity firm’s decision to split McAfee Enterprise into two organisations earlier this year, named Trellix and Skyhigh Security. At the time, it was revealed that Trellix was to focus on Extended Detection and Response (XDR), while Skyhigh would become a portfolio company focused on SSE.
In an announcement, STG said Skyhigh was created to satisfy “the growing cloud requirements for large and small organisations”, with the firm’s “data-aware” SSE built to meet modern workforce needs.
The firm will be fronted by new CEO Gee Rittenhouse, who previously led Cisco’s Security Business Group as senior vice president and general manager.
“With the majority of data in the cloud and users accessing it from everywhere, a new approach to security is needed,” Rittenhouse said. “Skyhigh Security has created a comprehensive security platform to secure both data access and data use via unified policies and data awareness.
“Organisations can now have complete visibility and control and seamlessly monitor and mitigate security risks—achieving lower associated costs, driving greater efficiencies and keeping pace with the speed of innovation.”

Skyhigh’s portfolio includes a host of SSE offerings, including Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and Cloud Data Loss Prevention (DLP). It also covers Remote Browser Isolation technology, Cloud Firewall and Cloud Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP).
“Skyhigh Security has emerged as a dedicated cloud security company that is laser-focused on propelling businesses forward with a comprehensive and converged approach to data security,” explained William Chisholm, managing partner, STG.
“We’re committed to investing in this business, which is in one of the most important markets in security, SSE.”
