Avnet Technology Solutions has today announced that long-standing exec Miriam Murphy has been appointed senior vice president for its North region, comprising the UK, Ireland and Denmark.
Murphy takes up the new role in addition to her responsibilities for driving Avnet’s EMEA strategic supplier engagements. She replaces Tony Madden who filled the post for the last six months.
“Miriam has been with Avnet for 20 years, and during this time she has earned a first-class reputation for her commercial acumen and high performance business management.
Under her leadership, Avnet’s IBM business successfully expanded across 14 countries in EMEA and in just three years had reached record market share and profitability,” comments Graeme Watt, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, EMEA.
“I’d like to sincerely thank Tony Madden, senior vice president, supplier business executive for Avnet Technology Solutions, Global, for his contribution to the UK business as interim leader over the past six months,” he adds.
Murphy began her career at Avnet in the post of European product director within Avnet Electronics Marketing, based in Germany and France. She transitioned across to Avnet Technology Solutions, EMEA, in July 2003, where she held the position of VP operations for EMEA, based in Brussels, Belgium, before being promoted to senior VP, Enterprise Business Group, EMEA, in April 2008.
Murphy says it is an exciting time for the IT channel and the evolution of technology. “We are seeing some really interesting opportunities for distribution and our partners in areas such as security, big data, analytics, converged infrastructure and related services,” she explains. “We have enormous talent in our teams in the North region that is driving growth for our supplier and business partners and will continue to maximise the new opportunities that we are seeing across the region.”
