Intel appoints Simms as its UK SSD distributor
The distie will join Arrow, Avnet, Exertis and others who already offer Intel SSDs
Simms has become a key distributor for Intel's Enterprise SSD range as the company seeks to build its enterprise portfolio through the distribution of what it views as essential hardware for businesses.
Although the company already offers other storage options from Pretec and Kingston, Simms explained it wants to continue building the storage division of its business, and carrying Intel's full range of products will enable it to do so.
“Data centres will be a key focus for us," Simms’ chief sales officer, Kevin Howse, explained. "It’s a sector with a clear challenge to future proof enterprise infrastructure with extraordinary performance and reliability and Intel’s range meets and exceeds that requirement. There is also clear potential for us to maximise and develop consumer, professional and embedded opportunities."
Intel also uses a number of other major UK distributors to get its products out to market, incuding Arrow, Avnet, Exertis, Ingram and Tech Data, which means Simms joins a pretty competitive marketplace for distribution of storage products.
However, Howse thinks Simms' experience supporting MSPs, VARs and system integrators will help reduce their costs and improve efficencies for customers.
"Simms specialises in memory and storage, so we are well-positioned to advise on the merits of Intel as a world-class product offering, as well as to provide the benefit of our expertise to ensure that our clients get what they need to help their customers overcome challenges,” he added.
Simms will sell Intel’s SSDs in a range of capacities up to 8TB, across multiple form factors including 2.5”, M.2, AIC and U.2, with their full range of interface options including SATA III and PCIe NVMe.
