Hitachi Data Systems (NYSE: HIT) has announced the appointment of Stephen Ball to the post of vice president and general manager of UK, Ireland and South Africa.
Ball joins HDS from Orange Business Services where he was sales director for the global network provider. His 24-year career in ICT has also included 11 years at Computacenter and senior positions at KPN Getronics and EMC.
“I am really excited to join Hitachi Data Systems at this point in its evolution. The company has just completed a record year and we are taking market share from our competitors,” says Ball. “Customers today are demanding that their data generates real value for the business and we plan to meet this need by extending Hitachi Data Systems’ footprint in the file and content space.”
He adds: “The services business has also become more important to our customers and partners. I am confident that my experience in outsourcing and services will help us to further develop in this area.”
