Equinix appoints Eugene Bergen as president of EMEA region
Bergen will drive the region's business development teams

Global interconnection and data centre firm Equinix has announced the appointment of Eugene Bergen as its president of EMEA operations.
Stepping up from his previous role as SVP of EMEA sales, Bergen will now oversee the business across the region, leading the country managing directors, regional corporate development team and regional business development teams to ensure continued high returns on investments and acceleration of interconnection growth.
“As SVP of Sales in EMEA for the last six years, Eugene has proven himself to be an exceptional leader,” commented Karl Strohmeyer, chief customer and revenue officer at Equinix. “I am very pleased that he has accepted this challenge to take the EMEA business to the next level.
“He brings a wealth of business insights, leadership experience and energy that will serve the region, our customers and teams well.”
Since joining Equinix in 2013, Bergen’s tenure as SVP of sales for EMEA saw revenues triple over the six years thanks to his building of a strong field sales organisation spanning 15 countries, a highly successful regional corporate sales team and a full-scale dedicated channel organisation, the firm said.
Prior to joining the business, he held the position of executive vice president and managing director of EMEA for global mobile technology firm Syniverse, where his management helped drive market share to 70% in just nine years.
“In my new role as president of EMEA, I am looking forward to working with the more than 2,500 employees that make up our amazing regional team to pursue our collective goals,” Bergen said. “By pressing our unique advantage, by bringing our best efforts to the company every day, and serving our customers, we can continue to build a company of historical significance.”
